Bridal Skincare Dos and Don'ts

Preparing your skin for the wedding day is just as important as finding the perfect dress or venue. From tackling breakouts to achieving that one-of-a-kind skin glow.

There's no such thing as starting your skincare routine too soon. The sooner you start, the better shape your skin will be in! Skincare is like working out and the results take time and consistency!

Do’s for Bridal Skincare

  1. Start As Early as You Can with a Treatment Routine: The earlier, the better. We suggest 12 months would be ideal but 3-6 months is a good time also.

  2. Customized Facial Treatments: Start professional facials customized for your skin type and concerns. At My Skin Care Center, we plan a series of facials addressing issues like uneven skin tone, acne, or dryness. Facial treatments ranging from minimally invasive microneedling and peels to microcurrent are effective for smoothing the skin’s texture and creating an ideal canvas for makeup.

  3. If acne is your main concern, the more time you can dedicate to working with your aesthetician, the better. Starting with extraction-focused acne facials and a skincare routine based around exfoliating, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory ingredients is the best strategy. We are certified acne specialists and will be happy to help you!

  4. Remember your body. What about your arms, legs, and back? If you have back acne or uneven skin tone, redness, or bumps we advise doing a peel or microdermabrasion. We have a variety of peels that address different concerns.

  5. Start at-home skincare routine for your specific concerns. We will recommend specific products such as exfoliants, hydrating masks, and products for your special day. We offer different at-home treatments you can do the night before an event.

  6. Be Mindful of Your Nutrition: Avoid excessive consumption of processed foods and sugars, which can contribute to skin issues.

Don'ts for Bridal Skincare

  • Don't Experiment with New Products Too Close to the Wedding: A big no to new products near the wedding date. Introducing new products too close to the big day may lead to unexpected reactions or breakouts.

  • Say No to Over-Exfoliation: Limit exfoliation to 1-2 times a week, and choose a product with gentle exfoliating agents. Avoid any deep peels that may require downtime right before the event.

  • Take Adequate Sleep and Avoid Stress: Take at least 7 hours of sleep and avoid stressful situations. Stress can cause dullness on the face, which will be reflected on your wedding day.

  • Don't Rely Solely on Skincare – Skincare is good, but you must be healthy from within for the inner glow. Keep track of what you eat and how much you eat, and don't forget exercise.
